Today I went out to photograph reference material for a series I am working on. My camera selections include a Kodak 120 format film camera loaded with black and white film, so I also take some cellphone pictures for color reference. I bring a notebook with me everywhere as I will often jot down words or phrases that come to mind when I am referencing a specific place. The watercolors come into play when it I go back and look over my photographs and start making color sketches in the notebook for future paintings.
