I was recently awarded a Project Grant from the South Dakota Arts Council. I had proposed to them a series that I have been planning and thinking about for some time. My project is that I am going to research and visit each of our State parks and then create a painting inspired by each place. I hope to encompass in my work a sense of location and a bit of the history of each park and recreation area. After the series is complete it will be on exhibition with locations and dates to be determined and announced later.

So.... Perhaps you know of some books I should be sure to get, or people I need to speak with. Any roadside attractions perfect for a pit stop? Places to go for great ice cream or coffee on the way to each park? I would love to hear from you.
